Consultations are an ongoing, collaborative process between an individual, their primary caregivers, and other stakeholders, where therapeutic interventions and problem solving around adaptations, additional supports and environmental changes are used to enable a person to function optimally in his/her environment. Coordination between different disciplines with diverse areas of expertise is a key part of the process and thus, at Empowerable we provide consultative services across a variety of disciplines.
Occupational therapy (OT) is a branch of health care that helps people of all ages who have physical, sensory, or cognitive problems. OT can help regain independence in all areas of their lives. Occupational therapists help with barriers that affect a person’s emotional, social, and physical needs. To do this, they use everyday activities, exercises, and other therapies. Occupational therapy (OT) teaches you how to adapt. It can help you perform any kind of task at school, work, or in your home, if you have pain, an injury, illness or condition that makes it hard for you complete them.
Occupational Therapists work with people of all ages, from premature babies to young children, adolescents, adults in midlife, and seniors.

All evidence-based ABA interventions aim to improve the lives of their clients by bringing about positive changes to observable behaviours. This is done by identifying functional relations between antecedent, behaviours and consequences through continuous data collection. ABA therapy focuses on acquisition of skills and reduction of barriers to learning, simultaneously through assessments, observations and Individual Therapy Plans (ITP). Strategies used include functional communication training, token economy systems, behaviour contracts, visual supports, behavioural skills training.
ABA therapy has been found to be successful with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders, Global Developmental Delay (GDD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), learning difficulties, phobias, separation anxiety, toilet training needs, among others. ABA is also widely used in schools and classrooms around the world to help students across the board.
We offer 1:1 ABA sessions in class or pull out. Therapists will work on each clients individual goals that are developed based off an initial assessment, in collaboration with parents and school staff.
